Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 September 2026 (install notice now also carries a random install identifier, locale and device type)
This policy covers the Circus Charlie: Arcade app for iPhone and iPad (the "app") and this website. The app is published by Paolo Furlan ("I", "me"), who is responsible for the data described here. Questions or requests: furlanpaolo90@gmail.com.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no ads, no in-app purchases.
- I never ask for your name, email, contacts, photos or precise location.
- The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports through Google Firebase so I can see which acts are too hard and fix crashes.
- The first time the app is opened, it sends a one-off install notice to my private Slack workspace so I can count installs.
- Nothing is sold, and nothing is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Data the app collects
| What | Why | Service |
|---|---|---|
| Gameplay events: an act started, cleared or lost, final score, Mode A/B, number of players, circuit. Also app opens, session length, app version. | Understand how the game is played and balance difficulty. | Firebase Analytics (Google) |
| Device model, iOS/iPadOS version, language, country or region inferred from the IP address, and a random app-instance identifier created by Firebase. | Group statistics and tell devices apart without knowing who you are. | Firebase Analytics (Google) |
| Crash reports: the code location of the crash, device model, OS version, free memory and disk space, orientation, and a random installation identifier. | Find and fix crashes. | Firebase Crashlytics (Google) |
| Install notice, sent once on first launch: app name and version, a random identifier generated on the device for this install, the date of first launch, the device language and region settings, and whether it is an iPhone or iPad. | Count new users. | Slack (Salesforce), my private workspace |
The app does not use the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it does not track you.
Your high score is saved only on your device and never leaves it.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, usage statistics and crash reports are processed on the basis of my legitimate interest in keeping the game working and improving it. The data is pseudonymous and limited to what that needs.
Service providers
Firebase is provided by Google, which processes the data on my behalf under the Firebase data processing terms. See Privacy and Security in Firebase for details. Install notices are stored in a Slack workspace only I can read, under Slack's privacy policy. Data may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
How long it is kept
- Analytics event data: 2 months, then only aggregated reports remain.
- Crash reports: 90 days.
- Install notices: until I delete them from Slack, and at most 12 months.
Your choices and rights
- Deleting the app removes the high score and the identifiers stored on your device; a reinstall starts with new, unrelated identifiers.
- You can ask for access to, or deletion of, data linked to your device's app-instance identifier by writing to furlanpaolo90@gmail.com. You also have the right to object to the processing and to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The game is suitable for all ages and collects no information that identifies a child. It is not designed to collect personal information from children, and the data above is the same for every player.
This website
This site is hosted on Firebase Hosting. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts. Like any web server, the hosting provider may keep technical logs such as IP addresses for security.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
